Big Shot

Saturday I’m going to a shower for my future daughter-in-law.  I’m not hosting but she did ask me to make the shower invitations.  That was pretty fun.  Today’s card is the one I came up with.  Pretty darn cute, isn’t it?

This was actually my first time playing with the dress form die.  I used Shimmer Paper for the dress and embossed it with the retired Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  I got pretty excited when I had my prototype done because the dress looks very similar to the dress she’ll be wearing at her wedding.  Her dress is short and lacy just like this one although her’s has a straight skirt on it.  Too fun!  Since Margot lives in California and most of her family and friends is here she’s only having the one shower so I actually made about 40 invitations.  I did have them all done before convention.  Now I just finished making thank you notes for her.  Lot’s of fun.

Here we go again with one of my favorite stamp sets!  I can’t seem to get enough of Chalk Talk!

I made this card for a swap I participated in last June.  While I was organizing my new colors of card stock I happened to have a sheet of Pear Pizzazz with a sheet of Island Indigo and fell in love with the color combination.  So, naturally, I had to make a card with it!  😀

Did you notice the little flower I made with the Simply Pressed Clay?  I left the clay white when I made the flower but then when it was dry I brushed a little of the Island Indigo ink on it with a sponge dauber.  This technique highlights it just a bit.  Have you played with the Simply Pressed Clay yet?  You should definitely give it a try!

I’m finally home!  Boy, those last two days in the car were LONG!  It’s good to be back!  😀

If you follow me on Facebook (and you should!) you saw this card at the beginning of July.  I had just received my order with my new toys from the Holiday Catalog and this is one of the cards I made.  So many fun new products!  Be sure to check it out!

I used the fun new Festive Flurry stamp set as well as the WONDERFUL new Expressions Thinlits Dies for the Big Shot! I can’t wait to start playing with my new toys again.  We got home late Tuesday afternoon and I spent Tuesday evening and yesterday catching up on e-mail and laundry.  Of course I had to go to the grocery store too seeing as we didn’t have any food in the house!

Opening session tonight for Stampin’ Up!’s convention!  Woo Hoo!  We’ll be heading over to the convention center sometime today to pick up our bags, stamp sets and t-shirts!  😀

Here’s my other convention swap.  I told you I’m into black these days!  I tried this card in other colors but it just wasn’t as striking as it is in black.  Once again I used one of my favorite new sets.  This time it’s Chalk Talk.  Love the coordinating Framelits!  Oh, FYI….this is a Cindy original too.  No Pinterest on this card!

I just love the chevrons on this card going this way and that.  Too fun.  Sshhh….my son’s getting this card for his birthday next week!

Another wedding card!  This one is a bit more involved but was still fun to make.  This one again was for the gal at church.  She requested purple because that was the color of the wrapping paper for the gift.  You gotta match, right?

I used Elegant Eggplant but I sure wish the old in-color Concord Crush had made the color change.  That purple was so beautiful.  It really wold have been nice to have had the Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot when I made this card!  It would have made cutting the decorative edge a lot easier!  😀  I guess I’ll just have to make another!

Hello!  For some reason when you think of the month of June you think weddings.  So in honor of those weddings I have a fun and bright wedding card.  Actually, one of the gals from church asked me to come up with some wedding cards she could chose from and this is one of the samples I came up with.

The Bermuda Bay looks a little bright for a wedding but it’s pretty close to the color of the invitations.  I did use my favorite Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder on it which unfortunately isn’t available anymore (boo hoo!)  I brushed the new Illuminate Pigment Ink over the embossed card stock to give it a little shimmer (I know….you can’t tell from the picture.)

A fun and easy wedding card that would work in any color!

Here’s a card that I CASEd right from the new Stampin’ Up! catalog.  We also made this at the regional event I went to in April.

This was the second make-n-take project at my open house last week.  It’s a fun card using more than one new product.  Of course the stamp set, Remembering Your Birthday, is new.  Can you spot any other new products?

There’s a die-cut and embossed piece of Whisper White card stock on the card that uses two new products!  The Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder as well as the new Deco Labels Framelits.  Cute, huh?  Oh, I forget to tell you…..my Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot came the day of my open house so we were able to play with it after all.  Everyone LOVED it!  😀  The other new product is the Raspberry Ripple Designer Paper.  Stampin’ Up! has redone all of the paper packs with new, fun designs.  Very nice!

I thought of saving this card for Simple Saturday but I used the Big Shot on it.  Instead of being simple, it’s just easy!

The great part of this card is that you can change it up in so many different ways….color, ribbon, sentiment, stamp set, embossing folder….the combinations are almost endless!

I went for masculine on this card.  The Argyle Embossing Folder definitely says “masculine”.  Then of course the color of Midnight Muse can be masculine and finally, did you notice that I used a knot on the ribbon instead of my fake bow?  I couldn’t give up using ribbon completely so I went with the knot!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers and all of you who have or who have had a mother!  (That should cover pretty much everyone, don’t you think?)  I didn’t have an actual Mother’s Day card to post so I thought I’d give you a sneak peek of one of the cards we’ll be making this week for our “Out With The Old” class.  Besides, since it is Mother’s Day I figured I could post a card using my favorite color….Melon Mambo!  😀

I used the stamp set Raining Flowers which is retiring in just a few weeks.  I also used the retiring Big Shot Two Tags Die.  I didn’t use either of these items a lot but I know I’ll miss the die (or not…since I probably won’t get rid of it!).  The ribbon is the Melon Mambo Striped Organdy Ribbon from the Spring Catalog which also will only be around for a few more weeks.  Are you making your list of all the retired items you need to buy?  I’m still working on mine!  Don’t forget, May 31st is the last day to get these things!

This is one of my favorite cards from a recent class.  The stamp set is the Best of Flowers.  It’s a definitely a fun new set.  Do you have it yet?

The doily adds a lot to the card but my favorite part of the card is the card itself.  It’s made with the new Pop ‘n Cuts Card Base from the Spring Catalog.  Check out the second picture and you can see the details better.  It’s such a fun new design for a card.  I love the way the little nobs fit into the die-cut slits to keep the card closed.  What do you think of this new die?

I’m so glad that Wisteria Wonder is staying around.  It’s such a nice soft color.  What color are you glad to see entering the line-up?  I’m excited about the Color Refresh.  There were some colors that I didn’t care for.  I’m excited for all of the new color combinations we’ll have.  How about you?

What a stinkin’ cute stamp!  As soon as I saw this “Ears to You” stamp on the flyer for single stamps I knew I had to have it!  TSC!  Too Stinkin’ Cute!  And it doesn’t have to just be for Easter.  I’m actually planning on making my MIL a set of cards with this adorable stamp.

Framelits, embossing folder, paper piercing…what else can I do to this card?  🙂  Hmmm….I guess I didn’t heat emboss anything….

One of the tips I like to give my customers when they make a card like this is to stamp your image first….then die cut or punch out the image.  So many of them try to do it the other way around and it’s just so much more difficult.  More power to them though when they get everything centered….and they do!

Don’t forget that March 31st is the last day to order any of the current single stamps.  You’re not going to want to miss out on any of these.  They’re pretty darn cute.  You can check them all out here.
