Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day

Many of us are getting ready to host or attend gatherings with family and friends today to kick off summer. I hope we all take a moment though, to remember what this day is all about. Let’s remember those soldiers who have given their lives for our country.

Fort Snelling National Cemetery

Check out this amazing picture. This was taken at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis a few years ago. All I can say is wow! I grew up in Minneapolis and I drive by this cemetery every time I fly back into town as it’s right near the airport.

Patriotic Birthday

As we’re remembering those brave soldiers we can still think about creating cards. I love the red, white and blue of patriotic projects. I created this patriotic card a LONG time ago. Stampin’ Up! is updating our demonstrator websites (woo hoo!) and we’re going to lose any content we had uploaded to it. Before I had a blog I used to upload cards I had created to my demonstrator website. I took a quick glance through the many projects and saved a bunch of them. Holy cow! These cards were pretty old! It was quite funny to look through them. I’ve decided that I’m going to have to start sharing them on Thursday for Throwback Thursday! You’ll want to check back on Thursdays if you’re in need of a good chuckle! Ha!

This card was created as a birthday card but could be used for patriotic occasions by just using another sentiment. I sure do miss the star punches though. Stampin’ Up! used to have this smaller star punch as well as a larger one. Of course I still have them in my stash. They come in handy when my church card making group is making cards for the Military Ministry. 😀

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday today. Take care, happy stamping and remember our fallen soldiers.

It Came! Everything Is Rosy!

My Everything Is Rosy Product Medley

Look what came the other day! Woo Hoo! It’s here! Look at all of those amazing products! I want to play with my new toys! Unfortunately I’m headed to the north woods to open up our cabin. Don’t get me wrong, I love it up there but seriously….I want to play with my Everything Rosy Product Medley Kit!

The designer papers are GORGEOUS! ….and I’ve only showed you one side. They’re double sided! And don’t get me started on the ribbons….LOVE them! If you can’t tell, I’m pretty excited for this grouping of products!

Since I won’t be able to share any of my own samples from this medley until the end of May when it may already be sold out I want you to head on over to Pinterest and search for “Everything is Rosy stampin’ up”. There are a TON of AMAZING samples there for your inspiration.

Seriously, you need to consider purchasing this medley of products…they even come in a nice box so you can keep everything together! I am in LOVE! Of course, it helps that one of my favorite PINKs…Melon Mambo…is highlighted in the kit. 😀

Head on over to my online store and purchase your Everything is Rosy Product Medley TODAY!

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

A Lovely Floral Phrases

Ah…simple, yet elegant. That’s what this card is. The floral design from the retiring Floral Phrases stamp set is lovely.

Floral Phrases

The sentiments in this stamp set are for weddings and thank you notes but if you just use the images like I did you can use it for any occasion. There is a border type image also in this set which I stamped on the inside of the card. You can see it in the image of the stamp set below.

Floral Phrases Stamp Set

This stamp set is retiring on June 3rd. It comes in wood block (#141764 $25) or clear block (#141767 $18). Did you know that starting with the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog Stampin’ Up! will only be selling photopolymer and red rubber Cling stamp sets? Some of the larger background stamps will still be available in wood block but that’s it! Quite a change for Stampin’ Up!.

I am going to miss wood block stamps. I liked to be able to grab the stamp I wanted out of the box and start stamping. However, I do love photopolymer stamps and being able to see through them to line things up perfectly the first time around. Of course what is there to not love about Cling Stamps? They stay on the block! 🙂

What is your favorite type of stamp? Wood block, clear block, cling or photopolymer? Leave a comment and let me know.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Pretty Peacock – My Favorite!

The new 2019-2021 In-Color Pretty Peacock is definitely my favorite new In-Color. It’s gorgeous! Check out the photo below. I’ve finally figured out how to use hex codes to get the actual color instead of relying on my poor photography skills.

What a fabulous color! I thought Tranquil Tide was a great addition to the Stampin’ Up! spectrum of colors because it was a blue-green that we really needed. I still like it and will miss it. But look at Pretty Peacock! AMAZING! So rich, so beautiful! Did you know that there is a whole suite in the new upcoming Annual Catalog centering around a peacock stamp?!

Oh my! There is a stamp set, dies, foil accented designer series paper, foil sheets, ribbon and rhinestones that all coordinate together! COORDINATION! Woo Hoo!

Stampin’ Up! has paired this gorgeous new color with Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel…..an AMAZING combination! I can’t wait to try it out.

What do you think of Pretty Peacock?

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

It’s Almost Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day is sneaking up on us (as does everything!). Have you made a Mother’s Day card for your mom or the other females in your life who are mom’s?

Just Because Mother’s Day

We made this easy card in classes this week. One of the gals made about 6 of them….sisters-in-law, daughter, sister. Then she sent me a text when she got home saying she forgot to make one for her mother-in-law and her step mother-in-law! Ha!

Many of my customers liked this card but their mothers were no longer with us so I showed them how they could easily change this card up to just be a lovely floral card.

Just Because Floral

In this stamp set the pot of flowers and the sentiment are all one stamp so it makes it easy to get everything lined up in the first card. For the second card I showed my customers how to easily mask the sentiment so it wouldn’t get inked up and stamped. I first trimmed down the small piece of Whisper White cardstock and the small piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. To mask the sentimentI took a couple of sticky notes and placed them over the sentiment on the stamp. Then I took my ink pad and inked up the pot of flowers on the stamp. I did end up with ink on the sticky note but that’s ok. Remove the sticky note and stamp your image on the cardstock. Easy Peasy!

Masking is a great way to make your stamps more versatile as in this case. Without thinking of masking the sentiment many people would have just thought….”I don’t like this stamp set because I don’t need to make Mother’s Day cards”.

The stamp set I used on this card is called “Just Because”. It’s a hostess set from the Occasions Catalog. A Hostess Set is one you can only purchase (at a specially reduced price) if you host a qualifying party or make a purchase of at least $150.

Just Because stamp set

I like this stamp set because I can use my Stampin’ Blends on it to color the images yet they were small. I still get a little intimidated when I try to color large areas. Practice makes perfect though so I’ve just got to stick with it.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping! Don’t forget to make (and send) those Mother’s Day cards! 🙂

Today is the Day!

The New Terracotta Tile

Teracotta Tile

Terracotta Tile is one of the new 2019-2021 In-Colors. It’s a great addition to the Stampin’ Up! color family. It’s very close to Calypso Coral…just a little deeper. My photo above doesn’t show the true colors but it does give you an idea of how the colors compare.

I think it will be a great color for fall and of course…terracotta pots! Ha! what do you think you’ll use this color for?

I haven’t had a chance to really play with any of the new colors yet but I am looking forward to it. Terracotta Tile is a little deep/dark for the softer new In-Colors but it goes nicely with the new Pretty Peacock. I hope you’re looking forward to using the new In-Colors.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Bundles – Do You Love a Deal?

Do you have a favorite stamp that you’ve been waiting to purchase? Does it have a coordinating punch or set of dies? If the answer is YES to both of these questions and the items were new to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog or the 2019 Occasions Catalog then you can save 10% if you order both items together! This is what Stampin’ Up! calls a bundle.

If the products in a bundle that you like are carrying over to the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog ORDER THEM NOW! The bundle doesn’t carry over.

Best Catch Bundle

Here is an example: In the photo above you can see the Best Catch Bundle. It includes the Best Catch stamp set and the Catch of the Day Thinlits Dies. Currently, you can order this bundle from the 2019 Occasions Catalog for $43. These items will both be in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog but if you wait until that catalog comes out you will have to purchase them separately. The stamp set will cost $20 and the dies will cost $28 for a total of $48. You can save $5 now. Hey….$5 is $5! That’s an extra $5 to purchase something else! 😀

Rustic Best Catch

Here’s a card I made for this week’s Card Buffet classes using the Best Catch Bundle. It works perfectly with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack (which is retiring – so get it now!) and the Burlap Ribbon (it’s retiring too!) I did CASE (copy and share everything) the idea for this card but unfortunately I’m not sure where I saw it. Thank you to the person whose idea I copied. I heat embossed the fish so it showed up better on the designer paper. This will make the perfect Father’s Day card for my father-in-law as he loves to fish. I could probably use it for my husband too. 🙂

Have a great day and don’t forget to purchase those bundles that you’ve been eyeing! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Say Good-bye…

Are you dreading saying goodbye to some of your favorite Stampin’ Up! products? I know I am. The Big Shot, the Stampin’ Trimmer, countless stamp sets, rolls of ribbon, paper, colors, embossing folders and dies. The Last Chance List or as we know it The Retiring List has been out for almost a month now. Have you checked it over to make sure you won’t miss out on your favorite products?

I always hate to see items show up on the Last Chance List because that means I can’t/won’t use them in my classes anymore. That doesn’t mean I’m getting rid of them though. The Happy Birthday Thinlit is an item I will definitely hang on to. It’s so versatile for all types of birthday cards. In the photo below you can see the card that I designed for the Military Ministry at my church. This group sends out birthday cards to all those who have served or are serving in our military from our church. I head a group that makes cards for the office and various ministries at church to send out.

Military Ministry Birthday Card

Most of the birthday cards I design for the Military Ministry are red, white and blue and they usually have stars on them. This way they can be for males or females. If you’re wondering where I got the stars for the card I have to tell you that they were made with a long-retired punch. Stampin’ Up! used to carry a small star punch and a large star punch and I have them both as well as retired star framelits. I will be the first to admit that I have a TON of retired items in my stash. I’m not a hoarder. There are just some items I can’t seem to part with. How about you?

Back to this Happy Birthday thinlit….do you have one? You should! It’s a must have for any craft room. Are you interested in finding out what all is still available on the Last Chance List? Head over to my online store. This is any easy way to actually see photos of the items that are going away instead of reading them on a list. Don’t miss out on those favorite items! Shop now!

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Seaside Spray – A New Favorite Blue

Seaside Spray is another one of the new 2019-2021 In-Colors. This color didn’t do anything for me when I first saw it. Just another light, nondescript blue. HOWEVER….that changed when I used it for the first time.

I was designing cards for next week’s Card Buffet Class and looked at my collection of ink pads and realized that Seaside Spray would work perfectly for the card I was designing. Seaside Spray is a lovely, soft light blue with a hint of gray to it. The picture below doesn’t do it justice but you can still see how it compares to Pool Party and Balmy Blue.

I do believe that I’ve found a new favorite blue. I used it for the sky on the card I designed. Perfect! What else can you see using Seaside Spray for?

What colors would you pair it with? I’ll tell you right now that it goes really well with the new Rococo Rose and of course, Night of Navy. I’m anxious to play with it and the other new In-Colors more and find some more fun color combinations.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Rococo Rose – A New In-Color

Rococo Rose is another one of Stampin’ Up!’s new, upcoming 2019-2021 In-Colors. Woo Hoo! Another pink! A modern dusty rose. This color is really pretty. It’s too bad my photo below doesn’t do it justice.

The New Rococo Rose

Even though I can’t get the colors right in my photo you can see how the new Rococo Rose compares to the other Stampin’ Up! pinks. It really helps fill out the pink spectrum. It definitely coordinates best with Blushing Bride. Petal Pink has too much orange/yellow in it and Flirty Flamingo is too bright. I don’t have Melon Mambo in my photo but that’s even bright/deeper in color than Flirty Flamingo.

Can you just picture the gorgeous flowers you can stamp using this amazing new color? Hmmm…I may have to get my stamps and ink out and see what I can come up with! I’m already picturing how gorgeous it will be when used with a DistINKtive floral stamp. Wow!

What do you think of Rococo Rose? Will you be adding it to your craft room? Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Daisy Box

Daisy Box

When my friends and I go to On Stage events many of us create small gifts for each other. For this last event I went to in Minneapolis I created these adorable little Daisy Boxes that were the perfect size for an adhesive eraser (Amazon!).

The box was pretty easy to make. I just measured the adhesive eraser and made the length and width of the box base just a hair bigger. The sides of the box were just a hair bigger than the height of the adhesive eraser. In order to have the lid fit over the base I added about 1/16″ to the length and width of the base dimensions.

The adhesive eraser is about 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ x 1/4″. I then made the bottom of my box 2″ x 2″ x 3/8″ which made for a nice snug fit. So I started with a piece of cardstock that was 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and scored each side at 3/8″. For the lid I started with a piece of cardstock that was 2 13/16″ x 2 13/16″ because I wanted the lid to fit snug. This piece of cardstock was also scored at 3/8″ on each side. On both the top and the bottom I snipped a little angle in the corners to reduce the bulk when I formed the box itself.

Daisy Box Pattern

Once the box itself was done it was time for the adorable belly band. You can’t go wrong with the Gingham Gala designer series paper stack and it coordinates perfectly with the daisy. I stamped the daisies with Smoky Slate ink and the center with Daffodil Delight ink. Once the flower was pieced together I attached it to the belly band with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Ooooo! Stampin’ Up! is coming out with something new and I’m not just talking about the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. They’re coming out with a Product Medley! What is a Product Medley? Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

The New Purple Posy!

The new In-Color Purple Posy is just so soft and lovely. It’s a very light purple and compliments the four other purples in the Stampin’ Up! Spectrum.

Purple Posy is soft enough of a color to compliment the deep and beautiful Blackberry Bliss and the fun and bright Rich Razzleberry. However, I think it really shines when you pair it with Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape. Spot on! Now my question for you is which of the current purples will you be pairing Purple Posy with first?

I can’t wait to start creating projects with this soft and lovely color! Be sure to put the Purple Posy cardstock, ink pad and ink refill on your wish list for June…..or join my team of SASsy Stampers and order it in May! Yep! Ordering new products ahead of time is definitely one of the many perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!
