Sponges, Sponge Daubers & Ink Pads

sponge&inkSponges, Sponge Daubers & Ink Pads are going to be your new best friends with today’s tips.

These items are the perfect way to add color to Painted Harvest.0918any project and anything.  You may have used the sponge and/or sponge dauber to brush a little ink on the edges of your cardstock to add a little color but have you ever used them to change the color or your ribbon or trim?

Do you recognize my favorite product from the Country Lane Suite?  Yep, that’s the 3/16″ Braided Trim that you see tied in a little bitty bow on this card.  I used my Sponge Dauber and the Early Espresso ink pad to alter the color.

I laid the trim on a piece of paper, inked up my Sponge Dauber and then rubbed it across the trim.  I colored both sides of the trim especially since I knew I was going to tie it in a bow.  I’ve done this technique before with other ribbons/trims and have actually place the ribbon/trim on the ink pad.  I hold place the sponge dauber on the trim kind of holding it in place firmly and then pull on the ribbon which transfer the ink from the pad to the trim.  You should give both methods a try to decide which one works better for you.  Coloring the ribbon/trim like this works best on light, neutral ribbon/trim like white, vanilla or the linen color of this Braided Trim.

How are you liking the Country Lane Suite?  Leave me a comment and let me know!  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!
