Tuesday’s Tip: Ribbon & Blends

Stampin’ Up! has some great ribbons in the new Annual Catalog but they don’t always have the ribbon you want in the color you want for that special project you’re working on. Well, what’s a crafter to do? After today’s Tuesday Tip you will know exactly what to do.

Inspiring Iris

I designed this card for a swap I was participating in last night. I had the card designed and it just needed a little something. The pink in this card is the new Rococo Rose. There is a Rococo Rose ribbon in the catalog but it was a little too much for the card. So….I took the fabulous Braided Linen Trim and colored it with my Rococo Rose Stampin’ Blend. Say what? Yep! I colored the trim with my Stampin’ Blend!

Of course this little trick works great on light colored ribbons but look how great it worked on the linen thread! I had to try all sorts of ribbons:

Too fun! Just think! The only thing that is limiting you are the colors of Stampin’ Blends and the various ribbons you own! Here are a number of different ribbons colored with Stampin’ Blends. I even tried two-tone on one.

Go ahead. Try coloring some ribbon with your blends. It’s quite easy. I just used the brush tip of the blend and used the side of the tip to color. You can keep the color light or just keep going over the ribbon with the Blend to make the color deeper. So many options! Wow!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s tip. I’d love to see what ribbons you color! Feel free to share them with me. Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Smile! Daisy Lane is Here!

Daisy Lane Smile!

I’m starting my Monday a little slow and thought this lovely little card would give me the pick-me-up that I needed. How can you not smile when you see a lovely daisy and it’s telling you to smile?!

There’s a new daisy stamp set in town along with a new daisy punch! Woo Hoo! The stamp set is called Daisy Lane and features the stamped images you see in the above photo along with a few more sentiments, a nice fern image and both a large daisy and a smaller daisy. The smaller daisy coordinates and with the brand new Medium Daisy Punch.

Daisy Lane Images

From the above image you can see that the new daisy is quite a bit smaller than the daisy we have. On my card I used the original daisy punch for a couple of reasons. The biggest reason was that I didn’t have the new smaller punch when I was working on the card. I also think the larger one fills the card better. I do have to give Julie DiMatteo credit for the design although I did add a couple of extra layers (surprise, surprise!).

What do you think of that fun center in the flower? It just completes the card, doesn’t it? That is one of the new Perennial Essence Floral Centers. It’s a little fuzzy embellishment that sticks right to your card! Too fun!

I do have to admit that just sharing this fun little card with you has picked me up a bit. I hope you all have a Happy Monday! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Fun Friday Meets Throwback Thursday!

Yesterday got away from me and I completely missed Throwback Thursday so today I’m going to combine Throwback Thursday with Fun Friday! I first had to check my file of old cards and did come up with one that I think meets the criteria….Sock Monkey!

Sock Monkey

Who remembers Sock Monkey? I almost cringe when I look at this card. First of all, the photography is something to be desired. Secondly, I did not do a very good job of watercoloring our little monkey friend. Sheesh! Go ahead and laugh. That’s what these posts are for. 😀

As you can see from the picture I’ve always been a fan of a gazillion layers on a card. The more, the merrier. Right? I’m trying to figure out what color red that is on the card. I’m thinking maybe Riding Hood Red? Again, I need to dig out my old catalogs and check these things out!

I hope you got a good chuckle out of this card. I did! Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Casing The Catalog: Delightful Day

With a title like Casing the Catalog I could mean that I’m looking through it for clues and details, right? Well what I really mean is that I saw a sample in the new catalog that I really like and want to copy it. That’s exactly what I did with the sample found on the bottom of page 34 in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

Scallop Note Cards & Envelopes

This sample in the catalog really caught my eye. I knew I had to make it sometime so I tried recreating it for my class. Well, naturally my sample didn’t look quite as nice as the catalog sample so I decided to wing it and make it my own. When I do make things my own it’s not always because I see things differently, as in this case, it’s because I can’t get it to turn out the way the original is. 🙂

Delightful Day Scallop

Above you can see the changes I made. I like the look of the striped designer series paper so I used it on all of the different colors of scallop cards since it matched them all! Then, since I couldn’t get the flowers to stamp the way I wanted them to on the card itself I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock for the stamping. Of course you can’t just add one layer so I added the little strip of Calypso Coral to it. On the coral colored notecard I used a strip of Old Olive to make things pop.

There you have it. Another card that I made my own. I really like these Scalloped Note Cards and Envelopes. They’re cute and a little different. They come in four different colors. They’re not exactly Stampin’ Up! colors but pretty darn close. There is Old Olive, Petal Pink/Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral/Terracotta and Balmy Blue.

Sailing Home

It’s almost Father’s Day and I need to get those cards out! Luckily everything is under control. My dad is getting a card made with the new Come Sail Away Suite. This suite of products is great for all of those masculine cards you need to make.

This first card is actually a photo of a photo. What? Well, it’s a photo that came with our kits at the On Stage event in April. This is the card we were going to make with the Come Sail Away stamp set. Look at all of those fun products!

Sailing Home On Stage

This On Stage card is actually note card size so when I decided to use if for my class and my Father’s Day card I decided to switch it up at bit. Not, too much. I just wanted to make it into a full size card. So what did I do? I just added layers! You know me and my layers! Ha!

Sailing Home

I did leave off the embellishments and I changed the color of the label too but other than that I kept with the original. That’s pretty good for me! This Come Sail Away suite is perfect for all of those masculine cards you need to make. I just changed up the label on this design to make a father’s day card. You can use this suite for all types of occasions. Check out the sentiments included in the set:

Sailing Home Bundle

The colors and designs in the designer paper are great for guys too. Night of Navy, Soft Suede, Balmy Blue, and Mossy Meadow. Check this suite out. You can see all of the great products in the suite here.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Love What You Do

Happy Monday! Do you follow me on Facebook? If you don’t, you should! On Monday mornings on my Facebook page I like to post an inspirational or fun quote. Yesterday I sat down and googled a bunch of quotes that I can use in the coming months instead of trying to find one every Monday morning. Yes, I’m trying to be organized. 🙂

Love what you do

Today’s quote isn’t about Monday or even about having a good week. When I came across it though I knew I needed to share it. When it says “work” it doesn’t have to mean a job. It could be anything you do in your life. What really caught my attention though was the middle line. No, not because it’s pink but because of what it says. “Love what you do”. Not only is this line fitting in our lives but it’s also part of Stampin’ Up!’s mission statement that they call the Statement of the Heart.

Statement of the Heart

Isn’t this a great mission statement for a company? Stampin’ Up! is all about making a difference. I love being part of this company. I love what I do and I love to share it too.

Did you know that Stampin’ Up! actually has a stamp set called Love What You Do? They designed it last year for their 30th anniversary. There’s even a stamp that says it. To fun! Actually, do you remember the cow card I shared with you on Friday? This is the stamp set that I used for the spots!

Love What You Do
(#148042 $21)

I hope you love whatever you do! Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Fun Friday: Over The Moon

Over the Moon

OMG! This Over The Moon (#149331 $20) stamp set is TSC! Too Stinkin’ Cute! As I mentioned the other day, I don’t really like cows that much but once I saw this stamp set I just had to have it! Aren’t these cows adorable! I love the sayings too.

Over the Moon Spots

Don’t you just love the rubber boots that this cow is wearing? Too cute! And what about those spots on the background? I wish I could take credit for figuring out how to make such perfect cow spots but someone else came up the idea and I just ran with it. The “spots” are actually part of flowers. They are from the Love What You Do stamp set. The flowers are a 2-step design so these “spots” are actually the second stamp that will give the flower outline color. Amazing! How do people figure these things out? I’m sure glad they did though.

I couldn’t decide how to color the flower that the cow is holding. It was between the yellow and brown that I did here or just having a white flower with a yellow center. Hmmm….What do you think? I’d love to have your opinion.

I guess I could have used yellow in the card instead of red and then the flower would have matched better. Decisions, decisions! I do like the red boots though. 🙂

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Throwback Thursday: Life’s A Breeze

Life’s A Breeze

It’s summer (ok…not officially…) and it’s Throwback Thursday. Here’s a fun, old summer card for you today. Does anyone remember this stamp set? Fun, small, summery images. I love the little pair of flip-flops.

This card design is perfect for highlighting those smaller images. Circles would have worked just as well as squares if you had small enough punches or dies. Actually, this card was probably made before Stampin’ Up! carried dies!

The dots on the background are actually stamped with a background stamp. It had to have been one stamp because they are spaced perfectly.

As I’m stamping this my little brain is working overtime. I should have created a card using this design but made with current products. Hmmm….I may have to work on that. So….if you notice that I haven’t been posting Throwback Thursday cards for a week or so it’s because I’ve been creating. 🙂

I wish I knew off the top of my head what the colors in this card are. I know that the orange is Pumpkin Pie and that the yellow is more than likely Daffodil Delight but I have no idea what color blue that is. I guess I really need to dig out my old catalogs so I can research and really wow you with my knowledge! Ha!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little blast from the past! Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Follow Your Art

The Follow Your Art is a fun new suite in Stampin’ Up!’s brand new annual catalog. This suite is all about crafting. It consists of a stamp set, coordinating dies, designer paper, a embossing folder and an embellishment kit. Did you know that Stampin’ Up! has actually bundled all of these suite products under one order number to make it easier to order? Yep! If you want it all you just have to put in one number with one price!

Follow Your Art

Look at all of those fun products in such fun colors! We got to play with a few of these products at our On Stage event in April. This first card that I’m going to show you is the card as we were suppose to make it.

On Stage Card

This second card is my version of the one we were “suppose” to make. You can see that my version is pretty close but I left off the strip of designer paper. The little scallop piece under the sentiment is different too because they didn’t have die-cutting machines for us to use and we used a punch instead. Other than those two things I followed directions fairly well.

Now this next card is my change-up that we’re going to be making in class next week. I stuck with the same general layout but I embossed the front of the card instead of stamping buttons and I added a border layer to the designer paper and an extra scallop on top of the sentiment. Again, I stayed pretty true to the original but just put my own twist on it.

It Starts With Art – 0619

What do you think of this fun suite of products? I’m ready to try another card. Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping.

The New In-Colors

Yesterday I shared with you the First 10 Things that I’d purchase out of the new annual catalog. Now over the new week or so I want to share some samples of those things with you.

The first two items on my list were the 2019-2020 In-Colors ink pads and card stock. Check out the gorgeous cards above made by Tami Hewlett! They showcase the cardstock and the ink perfectly! When you see projects like this it definitely makes me glad I invested in these colors. Not only did Tami use the new inks and papers, she also used the new 2019-2020 In-Color Faceted Dots. The stamp set she used is the Floral Essence stamp set. All I can say when I look at these cards is WOW!

Here are some simpler cards made using the new inks, paper, faceted dots and designer papers of the 2019-2020 In-Colors. I like how she used all of these things on such a simple card.

As you can see, these colors are gorgeous and you can use them on simple cards as well as over-the-top cards. You may want to consider adding them to your craft room. 🙂

Today is the day that you can start placing orders from the new annual catalog. Woo Hoo! Are you ready? Head on over to my online store at noon (MT) today and start shopping! Have a great day! Take care and happy stamping!

My Top Ten Picks

First Ten

OOOOO!!!! I can’t wait! The new catalog goes live TOMORROW June 4th at noon (MT)! Are you ready? I’ve been working away on my list and I hope you are too! I’m going to share with you the first ten things that I am going to order or have already ordered since I am a demonstrator. (There are select items that we can order early). I can’t show you photos of these items but I’ve listed the page numbers so that you can check them out starting at noon on Tuesday.

  1. The new In-Color ink pads. I always like to get my hands on these to play with them and check them out to see which are my favorites. (page 154)
  2. Packages of the new In-Color card stock for the same reason as number 1. (page 154)
  3. A Wish For Everything bundle. (page 17) This bundle is going to be so useful. It contains a double stamp set as well a a package of dies that cover lots of holidays and occasions. It’s similar to the Well Said bundle from the 2019 Occasions Catalog but has more to do with holidays.
  4. Rustic Retreat Stamp Set (page 49). This stamp set is all about the north woods. It was designed by Stampin’ Up!’s very first million dollar sales achiever, Mary Polcin. It has a rustic cabin (the reason I love it), pine trees, a couple of critters and some nice sentiments.
  5. Birch Background Stamp (page 156). This background stamp looks just like birch bark. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. It’s going to work perfectly with the Rustic Retreat Stamp Set in #4! I’ve even seen samples of it used on floral cards and it’s amazing!
  6. Over the Moon Stamp Set (page 32). It’s all about the cows! I’m not a cow person (although my friend Michelle is…) but I fell in love with this stamp set! This stamp set was actually one of the items we, as demonstrators were able to order early. I’ve made a couple of adorable cards with this set already. This stamp set is perfect for coloring as you can do as much or as little coloring on them as you’d like. Don’t worry….I’ll be sharing my samples with you soon! 😀
  7. All of the new colors of Stampin’ Blends (page 179). Stampin’ Up! has come out with 6 new colors of Stampin’ Blends and all of them will be on my first order! Four of these new sets of Blends are new In-Colors! How fun is that? The new colors of Blends are Pretty Peacock, Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray, Purple Posy, So Saffron and Gray Granite. What great additions to the Stampin’ Blends family!
  8. New Ribbons (pages 174-175). I always like to have the new ribbons on hand when I’m creating. That way if I have an idea I can just grab the ribbon I want to go on the card I’m designing. If I counted correctly there are 14 new ribbons in the upcoming catalog. Good thing I’ve been saving up!
  9. New Designer Papers (pages 165-168). All of the designer papers in the new catalog are new designs. There are 14 of these too. At this time I’ll probably only purchase the designs that I really like. Designer Papers aren’t quite as versatile as ribbons. A few of my favorite patterns are Magnolia Lane, Perennial Essence (gorgeous watercolor patterns) and Noble Peacock.
  10. Stampin’ Up! Mini Shipping Boxes (page 172). OMG! These are SO stinkin’ cute! They look just like the boxes that UPS delivers to your home! They are little boxes (4″ x 3″ x 2 5/8″) with the Stampin’ Up! logo on them! I have no idea what I’m going to do with them but I do know that I HAVE to have them! Ha!

Of course my list is a lot longer than just these items. Luckily I already have a few of these items and I have some credits I’ll be able to use on this first order. The UPS driver is going to LOVE me! Ha! Oh….speaking of those fun little SU shipping boxes…there is a new stamp set that has a UPS (or any delivery service) driver in it called You Always Deliver (page 59). There are so fun sentiments in it too. Be sure to check it out.

As you can see from this post I could go on and on. Check out some of my favorites when I post the link to the catalog and then come up with your own list. I’d love to know what your favorites are!

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Throwback Thursday: A Familiar Template

Favorite Template

It’s Throwback Thursday! Today is all about templates….or one template in particular…Ha!

Before we get to the template though let me ask you a couple questions? Does anyone remember this stamp set? What about the color? I know the name of the stamp set because it was in the name of the photo. It’s Garden Whimsey. The color is another story….I really can’t remember it. Raspberry Ripple comes to mind but I think this card is older than that. I may have to do some research on this and get back to you.

In Monday’s post I mentioned that I was getting quite a chuckle looking at these old cards. First of all I think I scanned the cards instead of taking photos of them and I couldn’t even do a decent job of that! Some of the cards designs are quite interesting but what struck me funny with this one is that some things don’t change….I will have to admit that this is still my go-to template: a focal point, some ribbon and a few layers. Really, this design is almost timeless. You really can’t go wrong with it. Just check out this card I designed a few months ago…

Bloom by Bloom

Does the basic design of the card look familiar? A focal point, ribbon and layers? OK…the ribbon is a bit different and I’ve added a sentiment but the design of this card is pretty darn close to the first card I showed you.

I do like this design because it works with pretty much any type of stamp. Even if you had a stamp that just said Thank You or Happy Birthday or something you could use this design. The design is simple and basic and it works. Do you have a template or card design that is your go-to? Send me a photo of your favorite design. I’d love to see it!

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

For Sale

I’m cleaning house (or at least trying to!) and I would like to find new homes for my retired craft items or craft items that I have that I don’t use anymore.

I usually hold an annual sale in my home for my customers but that is a lot of work to set up and take down for the little bit of traffic I get. I’ve started posting the items I have for sale on various Facebook selling sites and have had some luck with that but like to try and reach more people.

So the other day I created a Google Document which has pictures and descriptions of the items that I have for sale.  I sent it out to my customers yesterday and have had a bit of interest. I would also like to share the document to you.

The document lists a picture of the item for sale as well as a short description of the item. If you would like to see a bigger picture of an item or have questions on it please contact me at cindy@stampbystampcreations.com.

Please check back often as new items will be added periodically and sold items will be removed.

When you find items that you’d like to purchase please email me at cindy@stampbystampcreations.com with the names and prices of the items you are interested in as well as your zipcode so that I can figure out shipping fees.  Payments will be through Paypal.  If you don’t have a Paypal account I can send you an invoice through Square where you can securely pay with your debit/credit card.

There is a “For Sale” link right under my blog header that will take you to a page with this same information. Just click on “For Sale” and you will find the link to the Google Document.

Here is the link again: http://bit.ly/2EzpteU

Thank you for looking.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day

Many of us are getting ready to host or attend gatherings with family and friends today to kick off summer. I hope we all take a moment though, to remember what this day is all about. Let’s remember those soldiers who have given their lives for our country.

Fort Snelling National Cemetery

Check out this amazing picture. This was taken at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis a few years ago. All I can say is wow! I grew up in Minneapolis and I drive by this cemetery every time I fly back into town as it’s right near the airport.

Patriotic Birthday

As we’re remembering those brave soldiers we can still think about creating cards. I love the red, white and blue of patriotic projects. I created this patriotic card a LONG time ago. Stampin’ Up! is updating our demonstrator websites (woo hoo!) and we’re going to lose any content we had uploaded to it. Before I had a blog I used to upload cards I had created to my demonstrator website. I took a quick glance through the many projects and saved a bunch of them. Holy cow! These cards were pretty old! It was quite funny to look through them. I’ve decided that I’m going to have to start sharing them on Thursday for Throwback Thursday! You’ll want to check back on Thursdays if you’re in need of a good chuckle! Ha!

This card was created as a birthday card but could be used for patriotic occasions by just using another sentiment. I sure do miss the star punches though. Stampin’ Up! used to have this smaller star punch as well as a larger one. Of course I still have them in my stash. They come in handy when my church card making group is making cards for the Military Ministry. 😀

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday today. Take care, happy stamping and remember our fallen soldiers.
