It’s Throwback Thursday! Today is all about templates….or one template in particular…Ha!
Before we get to the template though let me ask you a couple questions? Does anyone remember this stamp set? What about the color? I know the name of the stamp set because it was in the name of the photo. It’s Garden Whimsey. The color is another story….I really can’t remember it. Raspberry Ripple comes to mind but I think this card is older than that. I may have to do some research on this and get back to you.
In Monday’s post I mentioned that I was getting quite a chuckle looking at these old cards. First of all I think I scanned the cards instead of taking photos of them and I couldn’t even do a decent job of that! Some of the cards designs are quite interesting but what struck me funny with this one is that some things don’t change….I will have to admit that this is still my go-to template: a focal point, some ribbon and a few layers. Really, this design is almost timeless. You really can’t go wrong with it. Just check out this card I designed a few months ago…
Does the basic design of the card look familiar? A focal point, ribbon and layers? OK…the ribbon is a bit different and I’ve added a sentiment but the design of this card is pretty darn close to the first card I showed you.
I do like this design because it works with pretty much any type of stamp. Even if you had a stamp that just said Thank You or Happy Birthday or something you could use this design. The design is simple and basic and it works. Do you have a template or card design that is your go-to? Send me a photo of your favorite design. I’d love to see it!
I’m cleaning house (or at least trying to!) and I would like to find new homes for my retired craft items or craft items that I have that I don’t use anymore.
I usually hold an annual sale in my home for my customers but that is a lot of work to set up and take down for the little bit of traffic I get. I’ve started posting the items I have for sale on various Facebook selling sites and have had some luck with that but like to try and reach more people.
So the other day I created a Google Document which has pictures and descriptions of the items that I have for sale. I sent it out to my customers yesterday and have had a bit of interest. I would also like to share the document to you.
The document lists a picture of the item for sale as well as a short description of the item. If you would like to see a bigger picture of an item or have questions on it please contact me at cindy@stampbystampcreations.com.
Please check back often as new items will be added periodically and sold items will be removed.
When you find items that you’d like to purchase please email me at cindy@stampbystampcreations.com with the names and prices of the items you are interested in as well as your zipcode so that I can figure out shipping fees. Payments will be through Paypal. If you don’t have a Paypal account I can send you an invoice through Square where you can securely pay with your debit/credit card.
There is a “For Sale” link right under my blog header that will take you to a page with this same information. Just click on “For Sale” and you will find the link to the Google Document.
Many of us are getting ready to host or attend gatherings with family and friends today to kick off summer. I hope we all take a moment though, to remember what this day is all about. Let’s remember those soldiers who have given their lives for our country.
Check out this amazing picture. This was taken at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis a few years ago. All I can say is wow! I grew up in Minneapolis and I drive by this cemetery every time I fly back into town as it’s right near the airport.
As we’re remembering those brave soldiers we can still think about creating cards. I love the red, white and blue of patriotic projects. I created this patriotic card a LONG time ago. Stampin’ Up! is updating our demonstrator websites (woo hoo!) and we’re going to lose any content we had uploaded to it. Before I had a blog I used to upload cards I had created to my demonstrator website. I took a quick glance through the many projects and saved a bunch of them. Holy cow! These cards were pretty old! It was quite funny to look through them. I’ve decided that I’m going to have to start sharing them on Thursday for Throwback Thursday! You’ll want to check back on Thursdays if you’re in need of a good chuckle! Ha!
This card was created as a birthday card but could be used for patriotic occasions by just using another sentiment. I sure do miss the star punches though. Stampin’ Up! used to have this smaller star punch as well as a larger one. Of course I still have them in my stash. They come in handy when my church card making group is making cards for the Military Ministry. 😀
I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday today. Take care, happy stamping and remember our fallen soldiers.
Look what came the other day! Woo Hoo! It’s here! Look at all of those amazing products! I want to play with my new toys! Unfortunately I’m headed to the north woods to open up our cabin. Don’t get me wrong, I love it up there but seriously….I want to play with my Everything Rosy Product Medley Kit!
The designer papers are GORGEOUS! ….and I’ve only showed you one side. They’re double sided! And don’t get me started on the ribbons….LOVE them! If you can’t tell, I’m pretty excited for this grouping of products!
Since I won’t be able to share any of my own samples from this medley until the end of May when it may already be sold out I want you to head on over to Pinterest and search for “Everything is Rosy stampin’ up”. There are a TON of AMAZING samples there for your inspiration.
Seriously, you need to consider purchasing this medley of products…they even come in a nice box so you can keep everything together! I am in LOVE! Of course, it helps that one of my favorite PINKs…Melon Mambo…is highlighted in the kit. 😀
Head on over to my online store and purchase your Everything is Rosy Product Medley TODAY!
Ah…simple, yet elegant. That’s what this card is. The floral design from the retiring Floral Phrases stamp set is lovely.
The sentiments in this stamp set are for weddings and thank you notes but if you just use the images like I did you can use it for any occasion. There is a border type image also in this set which I stamped on the inside of the card. You can see it in the image of the stamp set below.
This stamp set is retiring on June 3rd. It comes in wood block (#141764 $25) or clear block (#141767 $18). Did you know that starting with the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog Stampin’ Up! will only be selling photopolymer and red rubber Cling stamp sets? Some of the larger background stamps will still be available in wood block but that’s it! Quite a change for Stampin’ Up!.
I am going to miss wood block stamps. I liked to be able to grab the stamp I wanted out of the box and start stamping. However, I do love photopolymer stamps and being able to see through them to line things up perfectly the first time around. Of course what is there to not love about Cling Stamps? They stay on the block! 🙂
What is your favorite type of stamp? Wood block, clear block, cling or photopolymer? Leave a comment and let me know.
Do you live in the Denver area? Will you be in the Denver area on June 22nd? If you can answer yes to either of these questions then I want to invite you to our SASSY Stampers & Friends Summer Stamp Camp!
What is a stamp camp? It’s an all day event with lots of stamping and fun! We’ll have 8 cards for you to make, displays, a delicious lunch, door prizes and more! Cost for this amazing event is only $40!
We’ll be using new products from the upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalog and we can’t wait to share them with you!
Click here to download the registration form. Final day for registration is Friday, June 14th. I hope you can join us!

The new 2019-2021 In-Color Pretty Peacock is definitely my favorite new In-Color. It’s gorgeous! Check out the photo below. I’ve finally figured out how to use hex codes to get the actual color instead of relying on my poor photography skills.
What a fabulous color! I thought Tranquil Tide was a great addition to the Stampin’ Up! spectrum of colors because it was a blue-green that we really needed. I still like it and will miss it. But look at Pretty Peacock! AMAZING! So rich, so beautiful! Did you know that there is a whole suite in the new upcoming Annual Catalog centering around a peacock stamp?!
Oh my! There is a stamp set, dies, foil accented designer series paper, foil sheets, ribbon and rhinestones that all coordinate together! COORDINATION! Woo Hoo!
Stampin’ Up! has paired this gorgeous new color with Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel…..an AMAZING combination! I can’t wait to try it out.
Mother’s Day is sneaking up on us (as does everything!). Have you made a Mother’s Day card for your mom or the other females in your life who are mom’s?
We made this easy card in classes this week. One of the gals made about 6 of them….sisters-in-law, daughter, sister. Then she sent me a text when she got home saying she forgot to make one for her mother-in-law and her step mother-in-law! Ha!
Many of my customers liked this card but their mothers were no longer with us so I showed them how they could easily change this card up to just be a lovely floral card.
In this stamp set the pot of flowers and the sentiment are all one stamp so it makes it easy to get everything lined up in the first card. For the second card I showed my customers how to easily mask the sentiment so it wouldn’t get inked up and stamped. I first trimmed down the small piece of Whisper White cardstock and the small piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. To mask the sentimentI took a couple of sticky notes and placed them over the sentiment on the stamp. Then I took my ink pad and inked up the pot of flowers on the stamp. I did end up with ink on the sticky note but that’s ok. Remove the sticky note and stamp your image on the cardstock. Easy Peasy!
Masking is a great way to make your stamps more versatile as in this case. Without thinking of masking the sentiment many people would have just thought….”I don’t like this stamp set because I don’t need to make Mother’s Day cards”.
The stamp set I used on this card is called “Just Because”. It’s a hostess set from the Occasions Catalog. A Hostess Set is one you can only purchase (at a specially reduced price) if you host a qualifying party or make a purchase of at least $150.
I like this stamp set because I can use my Stampin’ Blends on it to color the images yet they were small. I still get a little intimidated when I try to color large areas. Practice makes perfect though so I’ve just got to stick with it.
Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping! Don’t forget to make (and send) those Mother’s Day cards! 🙂
Today is the day that you can order the Everything is Rosy Product Medley!
If you love to stamp and if you love gorgeous products this Product Medley is for YOU! I can’t wait to order mine…..tomorrow. I need to wait until tomorrow so that I can also order some more new products from the upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalog! Ah…the perks of being a demonstrator! 😀
Look at all of those fabulous products included in this medley! Stamp set, dies, designer paper, ribbon, rose gold foil sheets, printed dies, rose gold dies, embellishments and shimmer paint! Woo Hoo!
Look at those fabulous samples! These cards are absolutely gorgeous! I am SO excited! You can order this bundle today right in my online store! Don’t wait! I’m sure they will go FAST! They are only available during the month of May or while supplies last.
Terracotta Tile is one of the new 2019-2021 In-Colors. It’s a great addition to the Stampin’ Up! color family. It’s very close to Calypso Coral…just a little deeper. My photo above doesn’t show the true colors but it does give you an idea of how the colors compare.
I think it will be a great color for fall and of course…terracotta pots! Ha! what do you think you’ll use this color for?
I haven’t had a chance to really play with any of the new colors yet but I am looking forward to it. Terracotta Tile is a little deep/dark for the softer new In-Colors but it goes nicely with the new Pretty Peacock. I hope you’re looking forward to using the new In-Colors.
Do you have a favorite stamp that you’ve been waiting to purchase? Does it have a coordinating punch or set of dies? If the answer is YES to both of these questions and the items were new to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog or the 2019 Occasions Catalog then you can save 10% if you order both items together! This is what Stampin’ Up! calls a bundle.
If the products in a bundle that you like are carrying over to the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog ORDER THEM NOW! The bundle doesn’t carry over.
Here is an example: In the photo above you can see the Best Catch Bundle. It includes the Best Catch stamp set and the Catch of the Day Thinlits Dies. Currently, you can order this bundle from the 2019 Occasions Catalog for $43. These items will both be in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog but if you wait until that catalog comes out you will have to purchase them separately. The stamp set will cost $20 and the dies will cost $28 for a total of $48. You can save $5 now. Hey….$5 is $5! That’s an extra $5 to purchase something else! 😀
Here’s a card I made for this week’s Card Buffet classes using the Best Catch Bundle. It works perfectly with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack (which is retiring – so get it now!) and the Burlap Ribbon (it’s retiring too!) I did CASE (copy and share everything) the idea for this card but unfortunately I’m not sure where I saw it. Thank you to the person whose idea I copied. I heat embossed the fish so it showed up better on the designer paper. This will make the perfect Father’s Day card for my father-in-law as he loves to fish. I could probably use it for my husband too. 🙂
Have a great day and don’t forget to purchase those bundles that you’ve been eyeing! Take care and Happy Stamping!
Are you dreading saying goodbye to some of your favorite Stampin’ Up! products? I know I am. The Big Shot, the Stampin’ Trimmer, countless stamp sets, rolls of ribbon, paper, colors, embossing folders and dies. The Last Chance List or as we know it The Retiring List has been out for almost a month now. Have you checked it over to make sure you won’t miss out on your favorite products?
I always hate to see items show up on the Last Chance List because that means I can’t/won’t use them in my classes anymore. That doesn’t mean I’m getting rid of them though. The Happy Birthday Thinlit is an item I will definitely hang on to. It’s so versatile for all types of birthday cards. In the photo below you can see the card that I designed for the Military Ministry at my church. This group sends out birthday cards to all those who have served or are serving in our military from our church. I head a group that makes cards for the office and various ministries at church to send out.
Most of the birthday cards I design for the Military Ministry are red, white and blue and they usually have stars on them. This way they can be for males or females. If you’re wondering where I got the stars for the card I have to tell you that they were made with a long-retired punch. Stampin’ Up! used to carry a small star punch and a large star punch and I have them both as well as retired star framelits. I will be the first to admit that I have a TON of retired items in my stash. I’m not a hoarder. There are just some items I can’t seem to part with. How about you?
Back to this Happy Birthday thinlit….do you have one? You should! It’s a must have for any craft room. Are you interested in finding out what all is still available on the Last Chance List? Head over to my online store. This is any easy way to actually see photos of the items that are going away instead of reading them on a list. Don’t miss out on those favorite items! Shop now!
Seaside Spray is another one of the new 2019-2021 In-Colors. This color didn’t do anything for me when I first saw it. Just another light, nondescript blue. HOWEVER….that changed when I used it for the first time.
I was designing cards for next week’s Card Buffet Class and looked at my collection of ink pads and realized that Seaside Spray would work perfectly for the card I was designing. Seaside Spray is a lovely, soft light blue with a hint of gray to it. The picture below doesn’t do it justice but you can still see how it compares to Pool Party and Balmy Blue.
I do believe that I’ve found a new favorite blue. I used it for the sky on the card I designed. Perfect! What else can you see using Seaside Spray for?
What colors would you pair it with? I’ll tell you right now that it goes really well with the new Rococo Rose and of course, Night of Navy. I’m anxious to play with it and the other new In-Colors more and find some more fun color combinations.
