The Versatile Owl Builder Punch

Easter Chick.0313Can you belive all of the things you can do with that darn Owl Builder Punch?  When I first saw it I thought “How many times am I going to want to make a card with an owl on it?”.  Seriously!  It was cute but once again it was one of those things that I didn’t think I needed.

Now I can’t believe I ever thought that!  I don’t think a holiday goes by where some creative person (not me!) comes up with a new twist for the owl punch.  Today’s card is a case in point.  An Easter chick!  Of course!  Too Stinkin’ Cute!  Some day I’m going to be the really creative person who comes up with these ideas!  😉

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Spotlight Technique (with a circle!)

spotlightingToday’s post show’s you the Spotlight Technique and because it’s “What Can You Do With A Circle?” month I’ve spotlighted with a circle!  🙂  You can do this technique with any shape.

Just stamp your image on your card stock in a neutral color.  Now stamp the image again on scrap paper, color it and punch it out.  On my card I also punched out another circle in black to frame my spotlight.  The frame is optional.  I’ll show you a card on Facebook (www.facebook.com/stampbystamp) tomorrow that doesn’t have a frame for the spotlight so be sure to check it out!  🙂

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Highlighted Circles With Reverse Masking

005More circles for the fun “What Can You Do With A Circle Month?”!  There’s probably an official name for this technique but since I’m not sure what it’s called I’m calling it Highlighted Circles.

I first ran the smaller piece of Soft Suede card stock through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Then I punched the circles with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and the 1″ Circle Punch.

Then I made a template the same size, laid the Soft Suede piece over the template and punched the circles in the same spots on the template.

I then centered the template over the Crumb Cake card stock and stamped my images (I did have to cover some of the circles with a sticky note).  This is called Reverse Masking.

Once the images were all stamped I added the ribbon and adhered the textured Soft Suede card stock to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A perfect all-occasion card.  I hope you liked it.  Have you signed up for newsletter/e-mail list (sign-up box on the upper left of this page) or LIKED my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stampbystamp) yet?  You should so you don’t miss any great circle ideas and tips!  😀

Fun Fold With A Circle!

Madison Ave Fun Fold.1.0213 Madison Ave Fun Fold.2.0213 Madison Ave Fun Fold.3.0213Wow!  Not only do you get to see a fun new card design but in keeping with “What Can You Do With A Circle?” month…it has a circle!  I know….it’s pretty exciting.  But take a look at this cute card made with the Madison Avenue stamp set from the Sale-a-bration brochure.

Isn’t this a cute design for a card?  Once I saw it online I knew I had to use it.  It’s just so fun and different.  Below you can see the template I used to make the card.

Start with a piece of card stock 4 1/4″ x 11″.  Score at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″.  After you have the card stock scored, center your 2 1/2″ Circle Punch on the 8 1/2″ score mark about 3 /8″ from the edge and punch.

Next you want to punch a scallop circle with your 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch.  Now adhere it to the card as shown in the second picture.

That’s it for the tricky parts of the card.  Now, just decorate however you’d like.   Have fun with this card design!

Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration ends in just 10 days!  Don’t miss out on earning your FREE product.  Place that order today!  😀

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!photo (8)

Ears to You!!!!

Ears to You.0313What a stinkin’ cute stamp!  As soon as I saw this “Ears to You” stamp on the flyer for single stamps I knew I had to have it!  TSC!  Too Stinkin’ Cute!  And it doesn’t have to just be for Easter.  I’m actually planning on making my MIL a set of cards with this adorable stamp.

Framelits, embossing folder, paper piercing…what else can I do to this card?  🙂  Hmmm….I guess I didn’t heat emboss anything….

One of the tips I like to give my customers when they make a card like this is to stamp your image first….then die cut or punch out the image.  So many of them try to do it the other way around and it’s just so much more difficult.  More power to them though when they get everything centered….and they do!

Don’t forget that March 31st is the last day to order any of the current single stamps.  You’re not going to want to miss out on any of these.  They’re pretty darn cute.  You can check them all out here.

Ears to You!  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

More Circles….Just In Time For Easter!

004Well, we’re having another major snow storm today so I needed to think Spring!  Easter is on it’s way with soft, pastel colors just like this card.

Are you wondering how I got my wreath of circles so round?  I knew that if I just started placing circles on the the card it would never work so I came up with a plan!  I punched a large circle (2 1/2″) from a scrap of paper and then put temporary adhesive around the edges.  I then started placing my smaller circles for the wreath around the larger circle.  This way I could move the smaller circles around until they looked right.  When my wreath l007ooked the way I wanted it to I turned it over and placed a small amount of adhesive between the circles where they overlapped to hold it together.  I then removed my large temporary circle and placed the wreath on my card front.

That’s it for today’s installment of “What Can You Do With A Circle?”!  Have a great day, take care and Happy Stamping!  Don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter/e-mail list and LIKE my Facebook page so you don’t miss any great circle tips/ideas!

Woo Hoo!

Woo Hoo.0213Woo Hoo“!  It’s a birthday card!  Actually, that’s the name of this single stamp that is only available until March 31st.

You can never have too many birthday stamps and with this one being single the price is right!  You can check out all of the single stamps that are available on my Stampin’ Up! website.  There are 10 total right now and they’re all adorable!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Oh, Hello! Spring!

Oh, Hello.0313It certainly felt like spring here in Colorado yesterday and I think we’re having more of the same today.  Sunshine and 60 degrees!  Spring has sprung….at least for the time being!  We made this card in our Easter and Spring Card Classes this week.  Aren’t the little bees stinkin’ cute?  They’re from the Spring Sampler stamp set in the Spring Catalog.  Of course the Honeycomb Embossing Folder is the perfect background for the little guys and the polka dot ribbon just sets everything off!

Did you notice the circle on the card?  Isn’t it tricky of me to sneak those things in on you?  🙂  Yes, circles can add so much to your card.  I could have stamped the sentiment and the bees on a square and it would have been a “nice” card but the circle just makes things pop!  Isn’t “What Can You Do With A Circle?” month fun?

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

It’s Your “Lucky Day”!

Lucky Day.0313It’s your Lucky Day!  (That’s also the name of the stamp from the Spring Catalog!)  Not only do you get to see a cute card for St. Patrick’s Day but did you notice…..it also has a CIRCLE on it!  (Keeping with “What Can You Do With a Circle?” month.)

Yep….you can find circles everywhere!   The shamrock looks just perfect punched out with a circle and then mounted (with dimensionals) on a scallop circle.

The shamrock and the word “lucky” are all on one single stamp but I just used my marker to color and then stamp each one individually.  Isn’t Gumball Green the perfect choice for a shamrock?!

Have you been seeing circles everywhere?  I hope you’ve been seeing them on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stampbystamp) or in your in-box because you’re on my mailing list (sign up for it right on the top left of this page!).  E-mail me a photo of your projects that use circles in some way another….I’d love to see them!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Cheers! It’s Happy Hour!

Happy Hour.1.0213Who doesn’t like a good happy hour?  Especially one with a tropical drink and a strawberry?!  This card makes me want to go sit on the beach somewhere warm!  How about you?

There’s nothing difficult about this card.  It’s  a fun and simple card for any occasion.   Versatile stamp sets are the best!  What’s your favorite versatile set?

There are no circles on this card (well, maybe the dots in the drink) but don’t forget about “What Can You Do With a Circle” month.  Be sure to LIKE me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/stambystamp) and sign up for my e-mail/newsletter list (top left on this page) so you don’t miss out on anything!

I made this adorable card for my niece Abbey’s birthday.  Aren’t these litle birds stinkin’ cute?  I just LOVE them!  I used the 1 3/4″, 1 1/4″ and the 1″ Circle punches to make these little critters.  The wings are from the Bird Builder Punch (of course!)  🙂  The party hats are made with the Pennant Builder Punch.  Guess how I rounded the edge of the hats?  Yep!  With a circle punch! (Check out the photo below.)

Wow!  A project and a tip on the very first day of “What Can You Do With A Circle?” month!  Are you ready for more?  Stay tuned throughout the month a make sure you’ve signed up for my mailing list (this page, top left) and that you’ve “Liked” my Facebook Page (www.facebook013 (2).com/stampbystamp)

Secret Garden Sympathy Card

Secret Garden Sympathy.0213Well, I’ve been AWOL the last couple of days but I think you’ll find it’s been well worth it.  I’ve been in a card making frenzy!  When my cousin was here a few weeks ago she wanted some birthday and sympathy cards and I’ve finally got around to making some for her!  It worked out well because now I have something to share with you!  😀

I CASEd this gorgeous card but I can’t remember where I saw the original.  Thank you to the creator!  It’s funny.  I see a card that I can’t wait to copy and then I have to go change something.  On this one I added the spritzing of the piece of Whisper White card stock.  I liked the original card as it was but when I made mine it seemed to need just a little something.  I must just be fickle!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

It’s Bloomin’ Marvelous: Sale-a-bration 2013

Bloomin' Marvelous.0213There’s less than a month left of a stamper’s favorite time of the year…..have you placed your Sale-a-bration order yet?  This “Bloomin’ Marvelous” stamp set is another one of my favorites from the Sale-a-bration brochure.   It’s just….pretty!  🙂

I should have taken a second picture to share with you.  It’s hard to see but the sentiment and single flower are actually attached to the inside back of the card.  You’ll see them when you open the card but I’ve punched a circle the same size in the front of the card so it shows through.  It’s also popped up with a Stampin’ Dimensional.    A fun change-up for a card.

Speaking of pictures, I once again need to apologize for the terrible photo…you can’t even tell that I used the Primrose Petals Core’dinations Card Stock for the main card.  I guess I better start working on that!

Well, it’s time to go shovel snow!  Yes, it actually snowed here in the Denver area.  It was much needed.  We had us a regular ole’ blizzard yesterday!  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Another Sale-a-bration 2013 Patterned Occasions!

Patterned Occasions.Thankyou.0213This elephant is just too darn cute!  I like him almost as much as I like the little whale in the “Oh, Whale!” stamp set!  Ok, not quite as much, but he really is cute!

I was having a hard time trying to figure out what embossing folder to use on the background.  I was flipping through all my folders and then I came across the Argyle Embossing Folder (which I had never used…).  It was perfect!

This must be a great card…not only does it have a cute little elephant, lots of layers and beautiful ribbon….it has PINK on it!  😀

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Petite Pairs Birthday Card

Petite Pairs.0213Don’t you just love these little bitty labels?  They’re SO fun!  I really like this Sale-a-bration stamp set (yes, it’s only available until March 22nd) but I have to admit I had a hard time figuring out what to do with it.  Then, one of my fellow demonstrators came to my rescue!  CASEing (copy and steal/share everything!) is great!  When in doubt, borrow an idea from someone else!  I usually end up tweaking things a bit to make them my own.

Isn’t it great that there’s a little bitty punch (the Petite Curly Label Punch) that coordinates with the Petite Pairs stamp set?  I love when Stampin’ Up! does that!  One of the best things about the Petite Curly Label Punch is that it will actually be available AFTER Sale-a-bration!  Usually the Sale-a-bration items are only available during Sale-a-bration but Stampin’ Up! is making an exception for this punch.  Isn’t that great?  Now you can stock up on all of the other Sale-a-bration items that are only available through March 22nd!  🙂

This is a terrible picture.  I apologize.  You can barely see that I ran the front of the card through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Yikes!  I better work on my photography!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!
