Acorny Thank You

acorny-thankyou-0916I love my Stampin’ Up! catalogs.  They are full of great products that you can purchase but they are also full of fabulous ideas to make with those products!  How often do you go back through the catalog looking for a project idea?

I’m finding that I’m doing this much more often.  It should be the first place I look for an idea but I usually head over to Pinterest first and as a last resort head to my catalog.

I don’t usually copy an idea exactly.  I have to change at least a few things up on it.  Take this card for example.  It is very close to the sample on page 36 of the annual acorn1catalog but I just changed out a couple of things.  How many differences can you spot?

Do you do change things up or do you copy a card exactly?  I’m usually a changer.  I almost always have to make the card a little different.  Not that I don’t love what the original artist has done but I just like to make the card my own.

I hope you have a wonderful day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Grateful Tic Tac Holder

IMG_7023Sorry I missed a few days but my parents are in town and we’ve been visiting and running around.  It’s great to have them visit.  They haven’t been here since my son got married two years ago.  Of course we get to the Minnesota Homeland at least 2-3 times a year so it’s not like we haven’t seen them.  They had an uneventful flight.  They are a little nervous about how crowded the airport might be on Friday when they head back home but I assured them we can get them to the airport as early as they’d like.

My son and his wife arrived in town from California last night.  So we will have a lovely Thanksgiving tomorrow.  We host every year.  It starts with the neighbors who aren’t traveling and grows from there.  This year we’re up to about 28 people or so.  Should be fun!

IMG_7024This little treat holder is what I made for my friends that I went to Stampin’ Up!’s On Stage event in Dallas with.  It’s a fun and easy treat holder for regular size Tic Tacs.  Oooo…that reminds me….we’re making a Christmas one in class next week and I still need to get the Tic Tacs!

The original idea I saw for this project used a miniature little Tic Tac box from the dollar store.  Since I didn’t want to run around looking for little ones I just designed my holder around a regular size box of Tic Tacs.  Stampin’ Up!’s wide striped ribbon is the perfect size!

These treat holders are so easy.  I’ll give you directions and dimensions when I post the Christmas one…probably next week.  If I forget to post again tomorrow have a wonderful and peaceful Thanksgiving!

Take care and Happy Stamping!

Acorny Thank You

IMG_6832I love the name of this stamp set.  Acorny Thank You.  Who thinks of these things?  Ha!

Aren’t these little acorns fun?  I knew I had to have them when I first saw them…..of course there is a COORDINATING punch!  Woo Hoo!  The saying is pretty cute too.

My new favorite embossing folder is the Woodland Embossing Folder with the trees.  Isn’t it great?  So perfect for fall!

Well, I hate to admit it but I didn’t win any raffle baskets last night at this year’s Octoberversary celebration at church.  I’m thinking it was the change of location.  We had it at one of the rec centers in town instead of at church.  I was pretty bummed that I didn’t win but my friend sitting next to me won a basket as did her daughter.  There’s always next year….

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping
