40 Days

Today is the beginning of Lent for Christians around the world.  The season of Lent is the 40 days before Easter (not including Sundays).  Some people give things up for the season of Lent while others may do something special for themselves or others.

A few years ago, I tried doing something called 40 Bags in 40 Days which was a way of decluttering your home.  You are suppose to clean/go through your home and each day of Lent get rid of a bag/box of items by either tossing or donating.  I’m not sure I got all 40 bags but I did make a dent in all of the clutter in my home.  Of course, that was a few years ago and I really should start the process again!

You may remember that last year I tried 40 Cards in 40 Days.  My goal was to send out 40 cards during Lent.  I can’t remember if I got all 40 out but I think I came close.

I may try both of these ideas this year as my home needs decluttering again, but I also want to try to post 40 cards/projects.  Each day during Lent I want to share a card/project with you on my Facebook page.  I hope to make most of them but will also share cards/projects I’ve received in swaps or just a lovely project that I’ve seen online.  Be sure to check out my Facebook page every day (except Sundays) this Lenten season to see what projects I’ll be sharing!

What are you going to do during Lent?  Declutter?  Send cards?  Or maybe commit to trying to make a project a day?  Whatever you choose, give it your best shot!  You’ve got this!

Journey With Colors: A Few Changes

After the major overhaul to Stampin’ Up!’s colors that I shared with you last week, there were a few years that only included changes to In Colors.  Starting during the major overhaul, In Colors would now have a lifespan of 2 years and only 5 would be introduced each year.

The 2011-2012 catalog introduced the 2011-2013 In Colors which were Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder and Island Indigo.  By adding these five colors and including the five In Colors that were introduced the previous year, there were now a total of 10 In Colors in the 2011-2012 Catalog bring the total number of Stampin’ Up! colors to 50.  My favorites in this group of In colors were Pool Party and Island Indigo.

In the 2012-2013 Annual Catalog the 2010-2012 In Colors were retired and the 2012-2014 In Colors were introduced.  They were Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit.  My favorite colors in this group of In Colors were Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple.

Stampin’ Up! Colors 2013-2014

It was time for a small color change with the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog.  Some colors switched color families, some colors were added and some were retired.  Many of the names of the new colors may sound familiar as they were former In Colors. Below you can find the changes by color family.

Neutrals:  River Rock was retired and Smoky Slate was added

Brights:  Regal Rose was retired and Bermuda Bay was added.

Regals:  More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Riding Hood Red and Not Quite Navy left.  Perfect Plum and Rose Red moved over from the Subtles color family.

Subtles:  Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze and Bashful Blue were retired.  Perfect Plum and Rose Red moved to the Regals family.  Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride were added.

The new In Colors for 2013-2015 were Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush.  You’ve probably already guess that one of my favorite In Colors of this bunch was Strawberry Slush since it was PINK!  The other color I liked best of this group was Coastal Cabana.

I hope you’re enjoying this history of Stampin’ Up! color. It’s kind of fun to see how the colors and the color families have evolved.

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

40 Days of Cards

In the Christian faith today is Ash Wednesday. It’s the beginning of the season of Lent. Lent is a time of reflection and preparation for Easter.

Many people give things up like chocolate or alcohol during Lent. In recent years I’ve heard about people doing something “extra” instead. They do things for others.

There are 40 days in Lent. Who will join me to send 40 cards this season? Let’s spread some kindness in this crazy world and let people know we’re thinking about them and appreciate them.

Have a great day. Take care.

Holly’s Adventures

“Holly”, the 2019 Holiday Catalog has been on a few adventures this past week. She even came to Oregon with me over the weekend! Did you see her photos on my Facebook Page?

Eye Doctor

You should alway bring your catalog with you to the eye doctor, right? I had to make sure that my eye sight was good so that I don’t miss anything in the 63 pages of the catalog. 63 pages! Wow! There are so many great products in this catalog! I can’t wait to share! While we’re still talking about the eye doctor….what’s the smallest line that you can read? 😀

Mexican Food!

“Holly” also got to go out for Mexican food last week. It’s a good thing she came along because I was with my demo friend and we kept looking things up…our favorite stamp sets, our favorite new designer papers…all sorts of stuff!

Do you have your copy of “Holly” yet? If you’d like a copy be sure to let me know. Also…don’t forget to comment below or on my Facebook Business Page when you see a “Holly” post. You could win a free stamp set from “Holly”, the Holiday Catalog! 🙂

Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Throwback Thursday: Birthday Celebration!

Flamingo Birthday

This is a photo from 3 years ago. As you may or may not be aware, I have this thing for flamingos. Around the time of my birthday three years ago I held a Flamingo Bingo event for my customers. They got to try and win some Stampin’ Up! product and I got to celebrate my birthday flamingo style!

Flash forward to this year’s birthday. I had a lovely birthday with dinner out and then my son took me to see “Lion King” as it was a favorite of his when he was younger. A very nice birthday indeed. It was a BIG birthday (6-0!). The reason I’m sharing all this with you is because today I’m off to really start celebrating! I’m calling it a Female Family Fun weekend. I’m on my to Portland, OR to celebrate with one of my sisters and her daughter, my cousin and her two daughters along with my daughter-in-law and my neighbor-daughter. We are heading on a wine tasting tour on Friday and then who know what trouble (I mean fun) we’ll get into for the rest of the weekend.

Gotta love birthday celebrations! I’ll tell you all about it next week! Have a great day. Take care and Happy Stamping!

Where in the World is Holly?

It’s SO exciting! Not only do I have my hands on the new, upcoming 2019 Holiday Catalog but I have my grubby little hands on some of the AMAZING products that you will find in the catalog! I can’t wait to start playing!

Speaking of playing…we’re going to play a little game until the new Holiday Catalog goes live on September 4th. I’ve name my Holiday Catalog “Holly” for fun and I am going to take her with me when I go places and I’m going to take a picture of her in that location. I’ll be posting all of these pictures on my Facebook page and periodically I’ll be posting them here on my blog too. I encourage you to head on over to my Facebook Page
https://www.facebook.com/StampbyStamp and “like” it and “follow” it so you don’t miss out on any of the fun locations. If I get brave I may even start posting on my business Instagram account! Ha!

I already have some fun ideas of where you’ll find Holly, the Holiday Catalog. Now, checking out the pictures of the catalog in these fun locations is only going to be part of the game. You are going to earn points by commenting on a catalog photo and/or sharing a catalog photo. Comments on my FB page or my blog (or on an Instagram post) will be worth 1 point. Sharing a FB post (or an Instagram post) will be worth 2 points. The person who has the most points on September 4th will get to choose a stamp set from the Holiday Catalog valued at $20 or less! How’s that for fun?! Oh…I may be feeling generous and have a little something for the runners up too so don’t forget to play!

Now, I do have to let you know that from Sept 4th – 8th I will be in the Canadian Wilderness and may or may not have service so you may have to wait until September 9th or 10th to find out who won.

I’ll still be posting samples and tips during this time. It’s not going to be all fun and games. Ha! I hope you’ll join me on this fun adventure with “Holly”, the Holiday catalog! Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Love What You Do

Happy Monday! Do you follow me on Facebook? If you don’t, you should! On Monday mornings on my Facebook page I like to post an inspirational or fun quote. Yesterday I sat down and googled a bunch of quotes that I can use in the coming months instead of trying to find one every Monday morning. Yes, I’m trying to be organized. 🙂

Love what you do

Today’s quote isn’t about Monday or even about having a good week. When I came across it though I knew I needed to share it. When it says “work” it doesn’t have to mean a job. It could be anything you do in your life. What really caught my attention though was the middle line. No, not because it’s pink but because of what it says. “Love what you do”. Not only is this line fitting in our lives but it’s also part of Stampin’ Up!’s mission statement that they call the Statement of the Heart.

Statement of the Heart

Isn’t this a great mission statement for a company? Stampin’ Up! is all about making a difference. I love being part of this company. I love what I do and I love to share it too.

Did you know that Stampin’ Up! actually has a stamp set called Love What You Do? They designed it last year for their 30th anniversary. There’s even a stamp that says it. To fun! Actually, do you remember the cow card I shared with you on Friday? This is the stamp set that I used for the spots!

Love What You Do
(#148042 $21)

I hope you love whatever you do! Have a great day! Take care and Happy Stamping!

Colors!

Stampin’ Up!’s spectrum of colors is wonderful.  Did you know that each year Stampin’ Up! introduces 5 new colors to their spectrum?  These are called “In-Colors” as they try to represent trending colors like the Pantone Colors.  These “In-Colors” are available for two years at a time so each time they introduce 5 new colors they need to say good-bye to 5 colors.  These colors may or may not turn up again when Stampin’ Up! does a color revamp to their spectrum.  When they did a major color overhaul with this current catalog a number of favorite “In-Colors” returned include Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow.

1719InColorsThis year we have to say good-bye to one of my favorite colors:  Berry Burst.  I will admit that I am going to be sad to see that one go.  The other colors that will be leaving are Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist.  Which color will you be sad to see go?

If you really love any of these colors I would recommend purchasing them now.  Get the ink pad, the cardstock and most importantly, the ink refill!  When Stampin’ Up! releases the 2019 Retiring List these “In-Color” ink refills are some of the first things to go.

1719refillWhenever you purchase an ink pad I would highly recommend purchasing the coordinating ink refill.  That way you will always have it on hand.  You’d hate to have your ink pad run dry if you’re in the middle of a project!  Believe me, there’s nothing worse!

I’m very curious to see what the 5 new 2019-2021 In-Colors are going to be.  The 2019 Pantone color of the year is called Living Coral but Stampin’ Up! already has Calypso Coral and the colors look fairly close.  Hmm…

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.  Although….the wait won’t be too long.  I just a few weeks I am heading to Minneapolis for a Stampin’ Up! On Stage gathering.  While there I will get a copy of the upcoming 2019-2020  Annual Catalog, get to play with some new products and yes….see what the new 5 “In-Colors” will be!

What I think is kind of fun is to get a catalog in the mail and browse through it and look at the trending colors in it and see how close Stampin’ Up! came with their choices of the new “In-Colors”.  I have to say that they usually do a pretty good job with their choices.  Their job is hard though.  Not only do they want to pick trending colors but they need to choose colors that coordinate with the rest of the Stampin’ Up! color palette.  Whew!  I’m glad it’s not my job!

So as we say good-bye to Fresh Fig, Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide, which one will you be sad to see go.  I’ve already told you that I will definitely miss Berry burst and I think Tranquil Tide is pretty close behind it.  Leave a comment and let me know which one of these five colors is your favorite.

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping.

Something to Remember

032719Most of the time I post projects, things about Stampin’ Up! or at least things that are related to stamping and crafting.  I saw this today on Facebook and it really resonated with me.

I love the first line.  Focus on what’s important.  So often we get hung up on the little things in life and those things we can’t change.  I’m discovering that I’m becoming much mellower in my “old” age and to be honest, it’s quite nice.  Something will happen and I’ll just shrug it off.  It’ll hit me that before I would have been bent out of shape about it and now it’s no big deal.  I like that feeling.

Live life to the fullest.  Give it all you’ve got.  And most of all hang in there!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!
