The Basic Tools

Wow!  There is only a little over a week left of Sale-a-bration 2019!  How did that happen?

Is there still a Sale-a-bration item or two that you have your eye on but have no idea what you want (need?) to purchase to get to that $50 (or $100) threshold?  What are the items you use all the time when you’re making projects?  What items would you like to add to your projects that you haven’t before?  Get that roll of ribbon that you’re in love with or that package of designer paper that you’ve had your eye on.

Better yet…stock up on the Basics or if you’re new to paper crafting stock up on some of the tools that you’ll use all the time.  Check out my photo below.  These are some of the items that I use all the time and couldn’t craft without.

Basic Tool CollageMost of my cards have white in them so I am always in need of Whisper White cardstock and Whisper White envelope.  It’s pretty hard to send a card without an envelope!

I love my Paper Snips!  I think I have at least 6 pair lying around (and can never find any when I need them!)

The Stampin’ Trimmer is perfect for individual projects…especially when you need to cut AND score!

My Paper Piercing Tool gets used a lot.  I like to use it for placing jewels and other small embellishments on my project.  I also use it sometimes to help get intricate die cuts out of the die.

I would be lost without my SNAIL adhesive and my Stampin’ Dimensionals!  How else am I going to adhere my projects together?

If I need a little bling on my project I head for my Basic Rhinestone Jewels or Pearls.  The great thing about these little beauties is that you can color them with your Stampin’ Blends to match almost any project!  Woo Hoo!

What items are on your favorites list?  Have you stocked up on them yet during Sale-a-bration?  Don’t wait!  Sale-a-bration 2019 is almost over!

Technique Tuesday: Blendabilities

IMG_5705It’s Technique Tuesday!  Look at what I learned at Leadership!  I knew you could color the rhinestones and pearls with the Blendabilities Markers but I didn’t realize that you could color whole embellishments and the metal portion too!  Wow!

I was pretty impressed to learn that I could take the brush tip of my Blendabilities Marker (I used the dark Melon Mambo shade) and color on my Something Borrowed Embellishment.  On the first colored embellishment I colored the whole thing .  In the second one I colored everything but the center rhinestone.  This is SO cool!  Now I’m going to have to design a card around these colored embellishments!  Well….I design cards around the ribbon I have, I can certainly design around a colored embellishment!  Ha!

You can color almost anything with a Blendabilities Marker.  Show me what you can color!  I’d love to see it!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Golden Washi Tape Wednesday

011It’s Washi Tape Wednesday and today’s card is GOLDEN!  Don’t you love all of the gold (and silver) products in the Occasions Catalog?  This gold Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape is so FUN!  Of course it coordinates perfectly with the Gold Foil Sheets!  COORDINATION!  🙂

I designed this card for an event I’m doing next Thursday.  It could be a pretty large group and I don’t know if any of them have stamped before so I wanted something fairly simple.  I also wanted to use some of the fun products Stampin’ Up! offers.  I thought the washi tape would be especially fun.

Did you notice the strip of washi tape on the inside of the card?  I don’t usually remember to decorate the inside of the card but thought this was a fun addition.  I keep using the word ‘fun’…..I guess in my mind washi tape and fun go together!

The sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.  I also added a few pieces of the Gold Sequin Trim.

Have a ‘golden’ day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

P.S.  Have you taken advantage of the FREE shipping this week?  Don’t miss out!  Place that order today!

Washi Tape Wednesday: Label Love Stamp Set

028It’s time for Washi Tape Wednesday!  This is a card I was working on for my Guy Card Class.  Those are always the toughest to design for.  I do have to admit that this one didn’t make the cut.  It’s a nice card….but I don’t love it.  You know how excited I can get over a card….this isn’t one of them.

I’m not sure what it is.  Maybe the Calypso Coral is to girly or something.  Anyway, it’s a nice card, but not a WOW!

The stamp is from the Label Love stamp set and is punched out with….yes, wait for it…..the COORDINATING Artisan Label Punch.  I then punched another label, cut it in half and layered it behind the stamped image.

I used the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape.  I do love washi tape but it’s not working for me on this card.  The Arrows Embossing Folder I great though.  It’s  pretty fun and you can’t go wrong with the little stamped splatters from Gorgeous Grunge.

This is a first isn’t it?  Me sharing a card that isn’t fantastic?  Just because it doesn’t rock my world doesn’t mean it won’t rock your world or that maybe you might like it.  Let me know what you think…

Have a great day.  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Washi Tape Wednesday: Big Wish!

030Happy Birthday to my favorite DIL, Margot! Ok…she’s my only DIL but that’s beside the point!  🙂

As soon as I saw this Big Wish stamp set in the new Occasions Catalog I knew I had to get it to make Margot’s birthday card.  She loves donuts!  At their wedding in October Margot and my son Jared chose to have pies and donuts instead of cake!  Too fun!

It was real easy to stamp the donuts on the pedestal…especially with the clear-mount stamp set.  I would probably have had to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig if I had a wood-mount stamp set though.  I was going to use some of the Retro Fresh Designer Paper for the background on the card but then I thought that the Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape was a lot more fun!  I love washi tape!  I actually had a dream last night that Stampin’ Up! came out with tons of fun new washi tape in the new catalog.  I sure hope that’s true!  🙂

Time to get ready for today’s class.  Both classes yesterday went well.  We made some adorable Easter and Spring cards that I’ll be sharing with you soon.  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Good as Gold

IMG_3136Gold is in!  That’s what they told us at Leadership Conference in January.  It’s everywhere!  Especially on this card!

Stampin’ Up! has so many fun products with gold in them in their new Occasions Catalog.  Have you checked them out?  I’ve used 6, yes 6 gold products on this one little card!  two of them first appeared in the Holiday Catalog last fall but they are making another appearance in the Occasions Catalog.

What are the six gold products?  Well, here they are:  Gold Foil Sheets, Gold Baker’s Twine, Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape, Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum, Gold Sequin Trim and Gold Metallic Encore Ink!  Wow!  That’s a lot of gold!  🙂  Isn’t it fun though!  It makes such a sparkly, pretty card!

I did use a couple of other products on this card that aren’t gold.  They’re two of my favorites from the new Occasions Catalog.  The Scallop Tag Topper Punch and the Perfect Pennants stamp set.

What are your favorite products from the Occasions Catalog?

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Happy Watercolor Golden Glitz

022Gold is IN!  That’s what they told us at Leadership Conference last month.  Have you checked out all of the fun new gold products in the Occasions Catalog?  Well, if you haven’t, you can definitely see most of them on this card! 🙂

I have to confess, this is another CASEd card.   Unlike yesterday’s card I did make a few small changes to this one.

Check out all of the GOLD!  Gold Foil Sheets, Gold (Watercolor Wonder) Washi Tape, Gold Ink and Gold Sequin Trim.  Whew!

The sentiment is from the fabulous Happy Watercolor stamp set and is die cut with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits.   Shiny, sparkly and fun!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Crazy, Mixed Up Love

008Hello!  Today I have a fun and easy card for you.  The name says it all.  The stamps in the Crazy, Mixed Up Love stamp set are…..crazy!  They’re just plain old fun!  Be sure to check it out on page 30 of the regular catalog.

I chose the light bulb stamp for my card.  There’s a bit of meaning behind it as Debbie Boone’s “You Light Up My Life” was my husband’s & my song when we were dating in college back in the day.  I guess that little tidbit of info really dates me doesn’t it?  (And I guess it’s a bit embarrassing too!)  Oh, well….what can I do?  I am what I am!  🙂

Back on track to the cute card!  Once again this was a stamp set I didn’t think I needed to have….you can see where that got me!  I used the bright, fun colors Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise on the card as well as the fun Brights Candy Dots.  Have you played with those cute little things yet?  I really need to use them more.  They’re so fun!  The Gingham Garden Washi Tape really adds to the card too, don’t you think?

A fun card for many occasions.  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Geometrical: Leadership

photoHello!  Today I have another make-n-take project from Leadership Conference for you.  For this project we used the Geometrical stamp set (W #133158 $29.95  C #133161 $21.95).  I have to admit this was one of those stamp sets that I wasn’t going to buy so I was glad I was getting it at Leadership.  Of course, now I’ve seen tons of fun samples using this set and am glad I have it!  🙂

Don’t you love these cut little tags?  They’re so fun!  Did you notice that we used my favorite tool from the Occasions Catalog on this project:  the Scallop Tag Topper Punch (#133324 $22.95)!  We also used the fun Essentials Wooden Elements (#133258 $4.95) and the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper (#132995 $10.95).  So many fun new products in such a small space!  🙂

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Washi Tape Wednesday: Halloween!

009Have you checked out the adorable Witches’ Brew Washi Tape?  I love it!  But then, I love all washi tape!  😀

Isn’t this a fun layout?  A little washi tape on the diagonal, a fun (but sadly, retired) embossed spider web, ribbon and a fun tag!  I was all set to make this card for a swap and then realized that the darn spider web embossing folder was retired.  🙁  I probably could have used it anyway but I wanted to stick with current products.  Can you see a little shimmer to the spider web?  I lightly brushed some Illuminate Ink over the embossed web with a Sponge Dauber.  It really added a lot to the card.

The tag is from the Tags 4 You stamp set in the Holiday Catalog and it’s punched out with the coordinating Label Bracket Punch.  I love things that coordinate!  😀  I made the Pumpkin Pie layer to my tag by punching out two Label Bracket tags, cutting them in half and just layering them to the outside edges of the stamped tag.  Check out this post for the details on how to do that.

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Sketched Birthday

002Yum!  Who wants cake?  Here’s an easy birthday card you can whip up at any time!  Use your markers to color the cake, use your Bitty Banner Framelit to die cut the sentiment, add some fun new ruffled ribbon and you’re done!  The Baked Brown Sugar Ruffled Ribbon sure adds a lot to the card doesn’t it?

We received this Sketched Birthday stamp set at Leadership Conference in January and I’ve only used it on one other card since then.  I think I was intimidated by having to color.  It’s not really my favorite technique but the coloring on this was easy.  If I can do it so can you!  Give it a try!  I know I’ll be using this stamp set again soon!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Birthday!

Washi Tape Wednesday

One of my favorite new p026roducts from the 2013-2014 catalog is the Washi Tape.  I had never used it before Stampin’ Up! came out with theirs and it is SO fun to play with!

You can make cards so easily with Washi Tape.  In fact, last week we had a whole class based on Washi Tape.  Everyone who came received a package of Gingham Garden Washi Tape (shown in the picture), a package of Epic Day This and That Washi Tape and a package of Notecards & Envelopes.  They were able to go home with 20 cards!  I had samples available to copy or they could go crazy on their own.  It was really fun seeing some of the creative designs.

I used the Sassy Salutations stamp set (which is on sale until the end of the month….25%off!) on this card.  This was one of those stamp sets that I wasn’t sure I liked but the more I use it the more I love it!  😀

Stay tuned for more Washi Tape Wednesday creations!  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Bye Bye Button Buddies

006Another one bites the dust….no more Button Buddies after June 3rd.  🙁  It’s such a cute set even if you don’t use actual buttons!

We made this card in our “Out With The Old” class which is why I only used one button on the card instead of three!  Since these buttons are retiring too I didn’t want all of the other colors of buttons left over.  Sometimes you just need to plan ahead! 😉

Button Buddies is retiring, the buttons are retiring and so is the Distressed Dots background stamp.  This card definitely showcased retiring items!  At least the awesome Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set is sticking around!  🙂

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Bombs Away Birthday!

010Bombs Away!  Have you checked out this fun new set yet?  It’s another photopolymer stamp set meaning it’s completely clear.  Fun to work with.  You definitely have to try it!  This is a fun set because the sentiments are a little snarky…ones you may not use on your mother’s card.  Ha!  One of my favorites is “Congratulations!  The music you grew up on is now considered Classic Rock”  Too fun!

Besides the stamp set, I used a couple other new products on this card.  The bomb is stamped on the new Smokey Slate card stock.  It’s a nice, soft, pale gray.  Lighter than the old Going Gray.  The other new product is more Washi Tape.  I think Washi Tape is going to be one of my favorite new products!  It’s easy to use and it adds a little zip to your cards.

This Washi Tape is the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape.  It’s part of the This and That product line.  This and That is a fun and quick way to scrapbook.  Check it out hereThese This and That products are from the new catalog coming on May 31st but did you realize that you can buy these products now?  But only through April 30th…after that you’ll have to wait for the new catalog.  The best part about this limited time offer is that if you purchase all 5 products in this line by April 30th you will receive 15% off!  All 5 This and That products for only $32.08!  Such a deal!  Don’t miss out!  Place your order today!

Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!

Lace Tape Masking

001Hello!  I’m back from Salt Lake City and the regional event.  It was a lot of fun and I learned so much!  Oh yeah….the new catalog is AWESOME!  That’s all I can say about it right now but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!  😀

I copied this card from my wonderful and talented upline Tara.  Isn’t it cute?  It’s one of the cards we’re making in a private class I’m doing today.  A private class is simply an event for you and your friends.  You pick the day, time and the people you want to invite!  Wouldn’t you love to have your own private class?  I’d LOVE to do one for you and your friends!

This card is easy and fun!  I took a piece of the Delicate Details Lace Tape and stuck it to the bottom of the card front.  Then I took a sponge dauber and rubbed Lucky Limeade ink over the tape.  Once you remove the tape you have this great masked image!  FUN!  The designer paper is from the Tea for Two pack and the sentiment is from the Curly Cute stamp set.  Add a flower from the 5/8″ Flower Trim as well as some Rhinestone Jewels and your card is done!

I need to finish up getting ready for today’s private class.  Contact me today and let’s schedule yours!  Have a great day!  Take care and Happy Stamping!
